Somato Emotional Release

The toll exacted on a body from an accident, disease, stressful situation, or emotionally devastating experience can extend far beyond the obvious physical effects. Energy that accompanies a trauma can be retained, suppressed, and isolated within the body by the nonconscious long after the problem seems to be healed-in essence, forming "energy cysts." Then a complication arises that just won't go away.

A victim of child abuse develops temporamandibular joint syndrome as an adult. Anger from a skiing accident surfaces eight years later in the form of intense shoulder pain. A Vietnam veteran harbors fear for decades that renders him virtually incapable of behaving or relating normally.

This is where the process of Somato Emotional Release can intervene. A result of meaningful, intentioned touch, Somato Emotional Release allows for the identification and removal of energy cysts along with their associated emotions. The concept behind it is derived from CranioSacral Therapy, a light-touch technique developed in the 1970's by John E. Upledger, D.O., O.M.M., and practiced today worldwide.

SER is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma.
